The Department of Defense is the executive department of the United States government responsible for coordinating and supervising all agencies and functions within the government dealing with the United States Armed Forces and national security.

DIARMF, or the Department of Defense Information Assurance Risk Management Framework, has taken over for the previous DIACAP as the current foundation for the NIST assessment and authorization processes.The course begins with an overview of information security and risk management then proceeds to a high-level view of the FISMA regulations, roles and responsibilities, and NIST RMF process steps, including security authorization. It also introduces the components of the documentation package, authorization decisions, and the process of continuous monitoring.
