In the WAN service and support arena, Cisco certification assures proficiency in supporting Internetworks. Becoming a Cisco professional tells the customer or employer that you have passed Cisco’s strict testing requirements. The CCNP title is for the network professional looking to stand out from the crowd and demonstrate their mastery of LAN and WAN technologies.
The CCNP Certification course teaches the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of both local and wide area networks from 100 to over 500 nodes. The class covers concepts such as security and maintenance of converged networks, installation of multilayer switched networks, virtual private networks (VPNs), broadband and quality of service (QoS).
Cisco requires many vendors, re-sellers and support providers to have CCNP’s on their staff because CCNP’s are recognized throughout the industry as competent support professionals. Network customers can feel confident that the support the Cisco professional provides is tested, Cisco-certified knowledge.
CCNP Certification has a prerequisite of CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Certification. This class can be completed in 2 weeks (80 Academic Credit Hours) as a bootcamp. Certification requires individuals to pass a series of four exams, which can be taken in any order. The tests cover Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI), Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN), Implementing Secure Converged Wide Area Networks (ICSW), and Optimizing Converged Cisco Networks (ONT).
